Actually, the restoration experts who recently analyzed the SU-100 hull believe that there is very little, if any, of the original wood remaining in the hull. Years of paintball goo, dirt and grime have essentially eaten away and replaced the wood fibers with a homogeneous mass of crud. Amazingly, the hull is now stronger than when it first arrived on the battlefield. Ah, the wonders of nature.

PS. All Tri-Pact tanks have wooden dashboards and accent trim on the inside salvaged from the hulls of the Tiger, Panzer IV and KV-1 as part of the Tri-Pact - Making a Greener Future campaign.

Thank God that our hobby still has two real tanks with
WOODEN hulls - the fearsome Cromwell and the
soon-to-be rewired SU-100.
