Wveryone was waiting to see what British Columbia would use on the
marriage license forms which would work for both heterosexual and same
gender couples (it used to be "Groom" and "Brideroom", which I changed
to "Groom" and "Groom" or "Bride" and "Bride" as the case warranted
when doing a wedding).  The term chosen was "Party".


I still think no labels at all works just fine, leaving room for more
descri[tive information.


We didn't have labels on catalogue cards, and that worked for well
over a century.
