Except by making a note (500, or more specific tag if available) -- which of course separates the information from the access point (or whatever) where the citation or ID is given.

I have encountered one or two specialised catalogues where $e was used to convey such information. In theory terms in $e are supposed to be from the AACR2 list (21.0D1) but that list does not suit specialized purposes even now.
