Under 2.8.6.3 there is an example May 2000. Under 2.8.1.4 "Record dates of
publication applying the general guidelines on numbers expressed as numerals or
as words given under 1.8." Under 1.8.2 the instruction is to record numerals in
the form preferred by the cataloging agency. Current LC practice in the LCPS is
to record the numerals as found unless the numbers are expressed as words. For
names of months, the general rule is to transcribe as found in publication
statements. I believe ISO8601 would only apply in authority records in 046.

Subject: Re: [RDA-L] Examples of RDA records with field 264

Dear All
We are currently working on a set of television broadcast material and are
trying to find examples of how the 264 field is used with this type of data
set, particularly the $c as we have the day, month and year of recording and
transmission. Does anyone have examples they can share with us? We were
wondering what would be best practice for the date format in $c. Should the
date be in ISO8601 format (with or without dashes), 1st July 2012 or just the
year? e.g.
264 .1 ‡aCardiff, Wales :‡bHTV Wales,‡c19880108
or
264 .1 ‡aCardiff, Wales :‡bHTV Wales,‡c1988-01-08
or
264 .1 ‡aCardiff, Wales :‡bHTV Wales,‡c8th January 1988
or
264 .1 ‡aCardiff, Wales :‡bHTV Wales,‡c1988

Many thanks,
Vicky
