Library of Congress training materials show that 300 fields (end in a dimension) end in a period only if a 490 is present. The reason is that "cm" is a symbol instead of an abbreviation. But JSC RDA bibliographic record examples do not consistently apply the rule. Some records end in a period even if there is no 490 field.
