I have a quick question , Is rdiff-backup 1.0 backward compatible. For
instance lets say the client has v 0.12.6 and the backup server has
version 1.0 will there be any problems backing the client up to the
server? I have around 400 servers using rdiff and I dont want to
upgrade unless its fairly easy. I like some of the new features in
version 1.0 also...hmm

I'm having trouble with a remote backup, and I have no idea what's
wrong. The source is an OS X 10.4 box running rdiff-backup 0.12.8 and
the destination is an OS X 10.2 box running rdiff-backup 0.12.?. The
output at -v5 follows:
...
Regressing file Library/Application Support/Roxio/TDIXSupport
Sending back exception [Errno 1] Operation not permitted: '/Volumes/
Thoth/Laptop/Library/Application Support/Roxio/rdiff-backup.tmp.6' of
type exceptions.OSError:
...
629, in chmod self.conn.os.chmod(self.path, permissions)
Looks like rdiff-backup cannot change the permissions of that file.
Perhaps you originally ran rdiff-backup as one user, and are now
writing to regress the directory with another, and it doesn't own any
of the files?
