Yeah, we talked about SVG yesterday as well (the RDKit also has "native"
SVG generation). It would be a quick approach to getting something done.

However, I believe that the javascript canvas is significantly faster (and
certainly would require sending less bits over the wire) than the
browser-based SVG rendering is. If this isn't the case, I'd be happy to
hear about it.
