Steel pipe IS NOT necessarily steel pipe! There is steel tube & that is
welded & there IS steel pipe that is extruded.
Your steel supplier makes more $$$ selling you tube that is sold as pipe.
They are similar but not the same!

Importance: High

Hey guys I do a lot of ground mounts, and Top Of Pole is one of our main
type of installs.... DP& W our top of the line products, but they are only
warranting the RACK, they are suggesting the footing and pole size.... YOU
should always get a LOCAL engineer to engineer the Pole size and footing
depth and size...

We use Sch 80 when it calls for Sch 40, and steel pipe is Steel Pipe....I
would NOT install that on Cast Iron...!!!!

By the way does this job have a permit ? are there plans ? has anyone
contacted an engineer ? I am confused here, it seems the cart is before the
horse....
Site visit, plans, design with engineering then we get a permit, The most
important thing here is to Follow the Permitted Engineered set of Plans....

Just my 2 cents...
Aram
