Darryl,

I had one do the same thing about a year ago, it was one of the first ones made. I had to manually cycle the disconnect and it would start working until the next day where it would stick again. The explanation I was given at the time was that there were some counterfeit components used by the Chinese factory who was contracted to assemble the units. Xantrex replaced the unit and I haven't had any problems since. I also had a problem with a XW 6048 inverter that had pink smoke floating out of it even as it continued to operate. I suspect this may have been a similar bad component problem. They sent me a new relay board which was easily replaced without taking the unit off the wall. These were problems in some of the early prodution runs that I hope they have worked out. The techs I worked with were very helpful and resolved the problems quickly.

My concern is that as manufacturers look to cut costs they move production to places like China where quality suffers and job losses in this country continue to grow.

Hi all
I have noticed an Odd behavior on my XW60 ( the charge controller for the XW inverter series). It will on occasion spend all day as a PWM only and not go into MPPT mode. It will sometimes start up on a 102 Voc string at 0.6 volts above battery voltage, and stay there (ie take 24.6 battery and stay at a module string voltage of 25.3 volts all day. If I disconnect the array or the battery, and reconnect it will go into MPPT most of the time, and the string input to controller is at 70 volts . it is like it locks up into a diode, and wastes a lot of energy.
