Friends:

On steep metal roofs, we use roof jacks. Of course you can't screw them into the roofing. We fabricate metal ridge brackets to hold 2X6s onto which we attach roof jacks. We have welded fall protection rings onto our brackets.

To put anchors in, we put a ladder against the gable and shinny across the ridge.

Two photos of this can be located at: http://millersolar.com/practices/Technical_Procedures/Technical_procedures.html Click on "Roof Scaffolding."
