To bring the discussion back around to Enphase, at least in the case of the D380, there is a green wire in the AC Interconnect. This is irreversibly crimped to a GEC in the rooftop J-Box. The same question applies: why a GEC to each microinverter case, and/or why require an inverter->rail WEEB at all?
