Maybe a bad safety control goodie of some sort (Oil pressure switch or something?).. kinda sounds like a low/no voltage thingy. maybe a bad relay or a fuse on a control board someplace.. maybe just a bad connection.. are you getting any Juicy juice out of it at all?? seems I remember (Barely) a genny with a Ford Pinto motor.. once upon a time.. in a far away land.. it was at an EBS primary xmitter site.. now there's a scary thought.. good luck.

might not be a bad idea to check the fuel filter/ fuel pressure.

Hello Wrenches,

I am trying to help a customer over the phone troubleshoot a 10 year old Kohler 10 kW generator with a 4 cylinder Ford motor.  The unit starts fine and then goes into fault after about 30 seconds  I am unfamiliar with these units and weak on generators in general.  I had him check fuel level, oil level, and radiator level.  All were good.  He doesn't hear any changes in rpm that indicate overspeed or underspeed.  Any ideas?  Also, on these units is there a way to get more detailed fault info?  Thanks!

Mac Lewis
