Todd & All~ Either version of the Magnum Remote will also work with their optional module for amp-hour fuel gauge--called the BMK battery monitoring kit and yes, it's very similar to Tri-Metric functions.
Either version of the Remote will also work with the module for AGS automatic generator start. However, the Advanced unit incorporates a time of day clock feature that's absent from the normal RC-50. If one wants to lock out generator run time during "quiet" hours, that can only be done with the Advanced Remote. There are other features such as "LBX" a-la SW4024 and the unit can also use grid power during certain hours/black other hours when the AC input is grid...but the generator timing feature seems most important to my clients. The great benefit of the standard Remote is ease of use. One hardly even needs to consult the instruction book as I'm sure you are aware. That simplicity is just not there with the more feature laden Advanced Remote. If stacking multiple inverters of the PAE type, the Router product is an even more elaborate form of Remote that can also manage the networked inverters. Complexity of operation takes another notch upward with that unit, however. I've never figured out how to hack the generator trigger decisions which are set from the factory. Possibly those are hard-coded and not accessible for tweaking purposes. The decision making process that causes the BMK/Remote to declare the battery as fully charged is also a bit inscrutable. "They" know more than we do, I suppose, or maybe more menus aren't always better. Jolliness, Mick Abraham, Proprietor www.abrahamsolar.com Voice: 970-731-4675
