I'll second that suggestion--- greenhouse shade cloth is cheaper, and lasts as long. shading coefficient used depends on how much solar gain reduction you need. For my office radiant floor collectors-- ground mount, recycled Reynolds aluminum, anti-freeze --- I cover completely with white, reinforced, 6 mil, UV inhibited polyethylene vapor barrier. Online source would be Tek Supply.

Some hardware stores stock Pheifer. Farm supply/ greenhouse supply outfits would also be a good source for both. Be sure poly is UV protected.

This issue is just another reason to use a DrainBack system when possible.

Jeremy, we used use a screen fabric called Phifer Glass shade screen
(http://www.phifer.com/ExtSunControl.aspx#) which comes in 4' rolls and in
different levels of shading. For vertical collectors we anchored it along
the top of the collector and used awning type pulleys to roll it up on a
bottom rail of 2" PVC pipe filled with sand to give it weight and glued pipe
caps on the ends. We drilled holes in the caps for eye-bolts to tie them
down so they wouldn't flap in the wind. They worked very well for many
years.
