To clarify Jason's point, there is a way to connect the Envoy to a WiFi network
without using the Installer Toolkit app. You can hold the top button down for
3 or 4 seconds, which will put the Envoy into WPS mode. If the home's router
also has a WPS button, you can also hold that button down for a couple seconds
to start WPS mode on the router. If the two buttons are pushed within a couple
minutes of each other, then a WiFi connection will be established without
having to enter the WiFi password manually. One advantage of WPS is that the
Envoy will maintain a connection to the router even if the WiFi password is
later changed.

Cordially,

Nick Soleil

It's certainly not ideal, but you can put the Envoy in device scan mode
using the buttons, then log into Enlighten using the customer's computer,
create a system activation, enter the Envoy number, and it should show you
all of the microinverter serial numbers found in the Array Builder. This is
how we always used to do it.

You would need to establish an Internet connection using an Ethernet cable
or an Ethernet bridge. I don't think you can connect the Envoy to Wi-Fi
without the Installer Toolkit. On the old Envoy's we used USB sticks for
Wi-Fi, but the new ones have built-in Wi-Fi.

So in short, the Installer Toolkit is light years better, but it isn't 100%
necessary. If you want Wi-Fi you need the Installer Toolkit.
