Just to clarify, MidNite has two (2) battery monitors.... Sort of...
The MNBCM that Tom referred to is a shunt-less voltage monitor that
lets you know when
the battery has not received an Absorb charge cycle for 1 week and 2
weeks. It also has
somewhat of a voltage meter. It is purely based on battery voltage and
looks for the rise
in voltage for an accumulated of around 2 hours or so... It has a
semi-circle of LEDs on it.
Then the Whizbang Junior is a 500A @ 50 mV shunt tack-on circuit board
that connects to
the MidNite Classic or Kid charge controllers that calculates State Of
Charge based on
Amp-Hours in and out of the bank.
Thanks,
boB

The Midnite battery monitor requires a shunt, it piggybacks onto that
shunt.

Look at either the BlueSky IPM Pro Remote with shunt or the
Schneider Battery monitor. The MidNite Battery monitor is more
basic as it has no shunt

*Subject:* [RE-wrenches] UL/CSA listed battery monitor?
I have a client who needs a monitoring system for a 48V nominal
NiCad battery bank on a boat. It's 4 parallel strings of 6V
batteries. (Not ideal, I know) It's a passenger boat in Canada so
all electrical devices need to be UL/CSA listed. None of the
Bogart Engineering monitors are listed.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!
