has anyone successfully done this without removing the inverter from the wall?

Hi Ron,
Yes it is field repairable. Just open up the inverter and the fan is in
that outer housing. When lifting the case up, remember the fan power wire
needs by be unplugged as you lift the case as not to rip it off the circuit
board it is attached to. Then you will just turn the case over and remove the
fan and replace with the new one. Then carefully plug it back in before
completing the replacement of the case.
If you haven’t opened one up before, the red and black round plastic spacers on
the dc terminals are screwed off, the six small Phillips head screws removed
from the exposed AC board, and the 8 screws holding the case to the inverter
base removed and lift the case up part way until you can see the fan wire.

Outback GVFX3524 inverter that has had a fan failure. I will check with Outback
but thought I might get a head start here. Is this a field replaceable item? I
know the boards are but not sure about the fan. Any info much appreciated,
thanks.
