Steve
I Isolated the two strings and load tested. I ran about 1500 watts for 10-12
min while monitoring the voltages.
I saw them drop from 6v to 5.5, 5.3 the lowest, over that time. I didn’t have
a lot of time to test, but none dropped drastically. Checked both strings.
The electrolyte was clear when I checked cells. 1.265- 1.275
No residue on the caps
I did note that all the positive Posts have “grown” and cause the case to start
cracking slightly around the post.
I’ve seen this a lot with Deka.

Do you measure voltage of each battery with them disconnected or as is.

Jeremy...

A single string of 6v L16 @ 48 volts you will want to run about 30-40 amps of
discharge current... This with losses is about 1500 to 1800 watts.

Make sure the battery is charged,

Run the loads

Measure the Batteries... my bet is since you are getting a LBCO drop out the
battery in question will fall off quickly

Okay
Is there a quick way to run on just one string? Or should I say determine which
batteries would make a good string.
I’d normally say, find the best batteries based on specific gravity and use
them, but in this case all specific gravity‘s seem good.

FLA batteries cells fail generally in two manners.

Open Cell and Shorted.

Open Cells are more resistive and "Eat up" charging voltage which denies
voltage and charging potential to the rest of the bank so the entire bank sags.
This is the most common type of failure.

Shorted Cells are less resistive so they allow voltage and current to pass on
to the rest of the cells in the string. This causes an overcharge condition
because the dead cell isn't dropping any voltage and the rest of the cells in
the string become "overcharged".

Sometimes SG's will look good, but when the bank is under load you will see the
voltage drop off quickly. This is often the shorted cell.

Battery SG's are like Goldilocks and the three bears.. There is too high...
Too low and Just right... Too low and you lose capacity and this causes
sulfation, which will cause overheating, excessive water use, and will lead to
failure. This is the most common way an FLA battery bank dies is low SG's are
not corrected soon enough and the bank sulfates.

Too high, and you'll get great capacity, for a while, but that higher acidity
will cause corrosion on the plates which will act a lot like sulfation. On
these, you will often see a darker electrolyte as the higher acidity/corrosion
is eating away at the active material of the plates.

To figure this out what you need to do is...

1. Charge the bank to what you think is full or close to it..
2. Find the 10 Hour Discharge Rate of the bank. (C/10 Discharge Current)
3 Apply load as close as you can get it by running loads in the house. You
will be running this test for 2-5 hours depending on test results.
4. Monitor battery voltages during this test every 30-60 mins.

individual battery voltages should stay pretty close to each other as they
discharge, If you start to see one or two batteries sag in voltage before the
rest you have weak or dying cells.
My bet is you have 1 or two cells that have failed and this is the reason for
the LBCO...

What’s going on with a battery bank that reads 1.275 SG on all the batteries
but one, which has cell readings slightly higher.
The bank is probably 7 years old and this is not a full time residence.
It’s shutting down with LBCO error.
I need to go check the site, but I’d expect a dead or weak cell here.
What else can be checked , battery wise?
