Changing the Subject line for that new topic was very helpful. 

But it's also important to start a brand new message to the list for a new 
topic, rather than just replying to an old message and changing the Subject 
header.

That's because many email programs and our archives follow threads of 
discussion, which are based on other, usually hidden message headers that can't 
be properly edited. 

So changing the Subject line is a good first step  but not usually enough to 
keep topic threads separate.
