It depends upon the pulse. It you are referring to a an EMP caused by a solar storm this is hard on large electrical grids. No problem on Solar equipment. The voltage current is Ndf/dt number of turns times rate of change of flux, the grid can collapse but if you disconnect from grid (multimode inverter) and surge suppressor on grid side you should be ok. As it is there are transformers that get destroyed by solar flares
