Chris, Ive stopped using OpticsRE for a while now as its not been reliable. Many others have complained about this also.
With regards to Victron, they seem to not offer tech support to their customers directly and expect the customer to use the Victron Community page for resources or to contact the distributor that they purchased their products through. If you bought from Amazon, id expect it pretty hard to get any warranty/ support! Victron SmartShunt works pretty well for a battery monitor (especially if you integrate it with a Cerbo GX). The Cerbo GX will give you total local system visibility and if you have an internet connection, will give you the ability to view over the web via Victron VRM. The downside of the SmartShunt (if you dont have a Cerbo GX) is that the data is only available via their Bluetooth app and sometimes getting Bluetooth reception from the shunt is difficult if the shunt is installed inside a metallic battery or DC enclosure. I recommend the BMV-712 instead. Same basic functionality as the SmartShunt, however the shunt measurement board can be removed from the shunt (if needed) and placed on any shunt. Shunt settings can be programmed via the remote display (50mv, 100mv, etc) The BMV-712 Bluetooth transmitter is inside the remote display, and therefore can be located outside of the enclosure or remotely making Bluetooth easier to connect to. Hope that helps.
