From a marketing point of view, it would be a widely used app
that's hands-on proof RB delivers the power and capability to
create web services applications. The web interface is definitely
for when one would want to access the forum/list when the app is
not available locally on your computer.
You might wish to review punBB, e.g.

comes with a well defined extension mechanism
