OK, time for my 2 pennies worth.

I have recently made the move to RealBASIC due to moving to the Mac platform. I have, for some time now, been primarily a Delphi developer, writing anything from games to security software (mainly the latter for the last 2 years).

I moved to RealBASIC as I was looking for a competent cross platform compiler that would allow me to write software and distribute it for any, or all, of the three main computing platforms today. RealBASIC allows me to do this, without installing frameworks, runtimes, etc.

Admitedly, I have no prior knowledge of RealBASIC before 2006r1, however, I am extremely happy with the way it works at the moment. I have had to relearn certain things about object orientated programming, and a different way of organizing my projects, but this is to be expected when moving to a new platform.

What I don't understand is why are people complaining. If you don't like a piece of software, don't use it. If an upgrade doesn't work the way you like, go back to the old version. I used Delphi 4 for years, because I was comfortable with it and didn't see the need to go to a newer version.

I have read accounts in this list about projects getting messed up or saves not working (neither of which has happened to me). if this happens, you should employ a regular backup procedure, even if it doesn't happen, you should still do it. This is just common sense for any developer, whether professional or hobbyist.

In my experience, complaining about only causes resentment and negative feeling. If people have issues with software, surely a discreet email to the developer is the better course of action.

As far as I am concerned RS have done a sterling job with this software and my company will continue using it for future development.
