Subject:Re: HTMLVIewer Question

Steve,

Now I'm puzzled (my fault, not yours). After your note (and everything did
work as you said it would), I did the following:

(1) I went to http://rottentomatoes.com.
(2) I entered "Narnia" in the Search box.
(3) I clicked on "Go."

And this time it _did_ go to a different URL from
http://rottentomatoes.com/, viz.,
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/search/full_search.php?search=Narnia.

But (although I'm now beginning to doubt myself) I'm sure that earlier when
I filled in the Search box and clicked on "Go," the page contents were
changed but the URL was unchanged from http:/rottentomatoes.com/. But
that's certainly not happening now.

I'm currently at a different computer (we're visiting my wife's relatives
in New York State), but I wouldn't think that should make a difference.
Why the "change the URL" technique is working now and didn't work earlier
(at the same location on the Web!), I don't understand, but unless the
"Rotten Tomatoes" page is programmed, say, to behave differently for
different screen resolutions or something like that, the best explanation I
can offer right now is a possible faulty memory on my part (but I wouldn't
have posted my original note unless I had tried it out several times, so
I'm puzzled).

What I was hoping to learn from my question was how to use HTML viewer to
process forms in a Web page (other than typing something in a box and
clicking on "Go"), but it turns out that such is not necessary for the
example I provided.

Thanks, by the way, for the implicit Notting Hill recommendation. We're
film buffs, and that's apparently a good film that we haven't yet seen.

Here's why I chose the "Rotten Tomatoes" example in particular. (For the
sake of those not familiar with the site, don't be put off by the name.
It's an excellent resourcd for film reviews, better - in my opinion, than
the IMDB.) I want to use the RB HTMLViewer so that when I'm browsing
through possible films to rent from Netflix, I can go easily and
immediately to the appropriate related page for the film on "Rotten
Tomatoes."

The other thing I've been playing around with is the ability to modify Web
pages and display the modified version in the HTMLViewer, which also opens
up some exciting possibilities for useful RB programs. (Being able to set
a base URL in the HTML makes it a lot simpler to handle relative addresses
than I would have thought.)
