Yes, but the question is "Compiled into what?" From their description it sounds like they 'compile' their scripts into a byte code that their C++ written 'engine' runs at runtime. Sounds like a classic interpreter and intermediate byte code system to me.

From their own description, it does not sound like they generate nor link actual platform native binary machine code.

Compile is a pretty generic term now

Java is, in most strict definitions, compiled.

Now, it's not compiled to machine code, but it is compiled.
