Thanks Seth, Joe, and Ron,

First of all I need to apologize as I forgot to mention I'm on a Mac using 10.4.7 and RB 2005r2. This information is probably useful in asking this type of question. I blame this on sleep deprivation - of course that my stock excuse:-)

Seth, I wasn't looking for a way to get the volume ID from the Volume name, but thanks. Joe, you offered bad news, as this option would take way to long to search a volumes catalog. Ron offer a gleam of hope, what I'm after is an Alias, AppleEvents, AppleScript, Finder, Shell sort of way to do this. If anyone has ways to do this using one of those methods or other slick non-RB chime in.
