As you get it from the server, it will be nil encoded, because
the encoding is specified in one of the HTTP headers, not in the
network stream itself, and the HTTPSocket does not automatically
read the header and define the corresponding encoding for you. 

Check for the Content-Type header. It will be something like
"text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1", which corresponds to
Encodings.WindowsLatin1 (or Encodings.ISOLatin1). Define the
right encoding before converting, and you should be OK.
