Thanks for the reply Terry,
Call me Goldielocks, the turtorial is a bit weak with no alignment
capabilities and Tex-Edit Plus is a bit much and it has a cost
(which the author is great about and states that you can use and
not pay- That's a first for me), if I use I pay and I'm not sure if
the output can be loaded into a styled editField. I'm really
looking for an example that can load styled text in RB native
format - whatever that is. There is an example for styled text that
has a styledrun parser that I was hoping to utilize. Seems like
someone out there would have built an editor that has all the usual
features, alignment, font, size, style, color. Looks like I'm
building my own.
If you can afford REALbasic, you can afford either Tex-Edit Plus
($15) or Simple Help Editor ($25).
The features of Tex-Edit Plus are well known throughout the Mac
world. I have also just downloaded Simple Help Editor (demo) and see
it is more geared towards creating a Help file than a general Text
Editor for creating simple files.
The Tutorial is *very* old and doesn't use all of the current
features in the REALbasic editfield. For example, Alignment is not
included as there is still an issue with Mac when is comes to
printing out the editfield. It does work on Windows however. If all
you are interested is a way to save text files with styled text with
built-in left, center or right alignment then the Rb Editfield in the
Tutorial can do it and display it on-screen.
If you want indent Tabs, that are simple space distances, then the
Tutorial can be modified to do it. If you need adjustable Tabs, you
are out of luck in most simple Text Editors.
You didn't state the platform you are working on but I assume it is Mac.
