I've squirmed long enough in my chair reading these posts. I have to pipe in!

I can't believe anyone is wasting the bandwidth for this topic, and sadly some topics lately have gone so far off topic that they are reaching the outer limits of our solar system. Again we have a select few who wouldn't accept RB for WHAT IT IS. In the big picture, changes like this don't even come into focus. There are so many 'real' (no pun intended) issues that RS needs (desperately needs) to address that why would anyone present such a trivial request, even in passing? So for those who are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic - please refrain from these types of requests. Hammer RS to fix the the current functionality before nitpicking with syntax that is not needed.

I just don't get it. Plugins, workarounds, and downgrading to previous versions are not solutions, there are bandaids. Despite what others claim on this list, RB is dysfunctional and I don't know why anyone other than hobbyists who would use this product for development. Professionals who rely on RB for a living are putting their livelihood in jeopardy. And, please don't pipe in with anicdodal examples of your success, these are the exceptions to the rule. All of us users are guilty of staying with RB because we have become familliar with it and it's idiosyncracies in stead of choosing the best tool for the job for each new project. Staying in the RB rut prevents one from actually being objective as to what IS the best tool for the job. It's call entropy, and RS relies on it to stay alive.

I've coined this phenomenon 'cellphone mentality', and is applicapable to many other areas in life, not just RB. Those outside the US may not relate as I've been told cellphones work properly in other parts of the world. Here in the US, we pay high prices for dead zones, dropped calls, bad reception, and we can't get enough. If our cars were as reliable as our cellphones we'd walk. I think many RB users are suffering from 'cellphone mentality' when it come to RB. RS will never get another penny from me until it has proven itself as a professional tool and not a toy. I want to see RB become what it could be, what it should be, so let's all not cloud the issue by even discussing changes such as these. It serves no purpose in the RB community and can only distract RS from their task at hand.

Ok, bring on the flames... just give me a second to put on my fire retardant underwear ;-)
