Several
1) output raw data that is automatically imported into another

Hum, using FileMaker to generate my reports after trying to get rid
of it to develop DB apps using RB???
Data got loaded to another system
Excel : See my answer to Gerard.
If your clients have excel (mine do) this is a good solution and it's
not a pain to make a nice spreadsheet if you have my classes (they're
free)
2) write an Excel file directly (not using Office Automation though)
- Need Excel on the customer's computer
My clients are accountants. They have Excel
- Relying on Microsoft for a file format? (see the changes in each
major release of Excel for instance)
It's at least XML
- Must be very difficult to implement in RB for a well formatted
report with graphics, sub-totals etc…
No (see above)
3) PDF using a "template" system I wrote that allows a user to
set up a template PDF that then is filled in with blocks of data
they can specify in a designer tool
I don't understand what you mean sorry
My users have a tool that allows them to place "blocks" (like in the
IDE) that will contain certain columns from the database
They draw their report layout on top of a PDF that serves as the
background
Then the entire things is output as a PDF
4) OnTargetReports
Looks like a very well known tool among RB developers?
Reasonably well known_______________________________________________
