Checkboxes -- Indeterminate state?

An old issue: Rb checkboxes don't support the indeterminate state (on  
OSX, that's a bar through the checkbox). Does anyone know of a good  
solution or workaround to this problem, perhaps as a custom class or  
plugin? For OS X apps? I need to use this in an application and using  
the indeterminate checkbox state is the correct UI solution to the  
problem.
