There are various hacks that give you some functionality but nothing without a lot of overhead AFAIK. It usually involves wrapper classes and a bunch of casting...

This:

  Dim a As New myClass
  Weak b As myClass = a

Would be nice, though I realize it's not a trivial feature request.
