Download the ScriptPictureEffects from
http://www.oofile.com.au/downloads.html#DownloadREALbasic
You can use the method in the PictureEffectsScripter class, test it
in that app with a script like this (after opening an image):
CopyImage
MaskRadialGradient 0, 255
There are a range of gradient methods in that class, used for both
masks and to generate gradient fills.
