1) in the short term, after my experiences migrating to RB2007 from RB5.5.5, I would like to see their entire team dedicated to just making the current RB2007r1 release utterly rock-solid stable and hopefully faster (on OS/X).

About that, I think there is a key fact to consider which could appear unrelated but it's not: compiler optimizations.

Actually the RB IDE is one of the heavier (if not the heaviest) applications for the Mac. While the binary size itself is not a problem at all, it requires hundred of MBs of RAM to run and, worst of all, it grabs all the CPUs and stil remain incredibly slow. The same is (obviously) for (many of) the applications made with RB (I already received a couple of complains from picky users).

Since the IDE is written in RB, having an optimized compiler would produce two big benefits: a faster IDE and faster applications. Also, considering the RB core compiler is essentially the same of RB 5.0, this makes it almost 4 years old and probably the oldest component of the actual RB.

IMHO this should be the first major improvement for future releases and something I expected to see in RB 2007.
