I found a solution for Mac for dynamically enabling/disabling help tags.
I don't know the solution for Windows/Linux.
Does anyone know how? I'd like to give a checkbox for the user to
enable/disable tooltips (hints) on those platforms.
Through googling, I found you could enable/disable HelpTags in OSX (not
classic), using the following code. It works well,
placed inside the action() routine of a checkbox:

I may have to test for existence of the function later, but I'm not there
yet.
