Interesting enough Intel has said they are NOT supplying the silicon for the iPhone <http://yahoo.reuters.com/news/articlehybrid.aspx? storyID=urn:newsml:reuters.com: 20070110:MTFH49765_2007-01-10_17-52-32_N10288928&type=comktNews&rpc=4 4>

And AppleInsider says they are <http://appleinsider.com/article.php? id=2377>

Additionally, Apple is now providing an "hands-on" for selected journalists.
I just read an italian article of a journalist which tested the iPhone.
Here are some of the tech key facts:
- The OS is an optimized version of Mac OS X and takes about 200MB of space.
- It only syncs through cable and only with iTunes
- It's not possible to use VoIP applications
- Installing third party applications will require iTunes and - probably - applications will be only available from iTunes Store

The last point would suggests that the iPhone's applications will probably follow the same path used for iPod games. At least initially.
