You're right that it wouldn't be smart for me to give away the "secret sauce," but OTOH I'm still happy to share lessons learned with my peers. I'm using a custom web server written in RB, supported by a suite of command-line applications that do all the heavy lifting (and which could be distributed across multiple servers as needed). I'm not using the built-in SSLSocket because I can't get that to work; instead I'm using a tool called stunnel for that, at least for now. (I may want to go to a hardware-accelerated SSL reverse proxy at some point, if I can find one I like -- any recommendations would be appreciated.)
