What are people doing who have been using the database as a local document, rather than connecting to a server?

Is there any way to use a plugin with older builds to talk to files created on an Intel Mac running a UB?

I probably have to continue supporting a Classic build but ship UB's this year. Am I out of options?

It seems if you want to build and distribute UB's your choices are:
1) stop using any database from RS, as third parties are more reliable in providing support, or 2) use non-SQL formats such as XML and do all your own querying in memory, or 3) keep distributing conversion utilities to your end users, that will run under Rosetta.

Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention to database issues but I'm puzzled there hasn't been a huge outcry.

Hi Andy,

After you've converted your app to use the new REALDatabase format, your users would only need to run the conversion once. Therefore, you wouldn't need to provide the converter into perpetuity. I recommend that you move forward with your UB app using the new format and provide the converter for existing customers - they only need to run it once.
