I'm pondering whether to give a talk at REAL World again this year. I
don't really want to repeat last year's sessions, though; I'd
rather do
something new. Is there anything in particular y'all would like to
hear about? (Please keep in mind that I'm no longer an "insider" so
answers like "tell us all of REAL Software's upcoming plans!" won't
work!)
One thing I have a lot of experience in lately is making web apps in
REALbasic. Does that hold any interest for anyone?
I proposed to REAL a group "Best practices in REALbasic"
brainstorming session. Perhaps a few folks such as you and I could
put our heads together and do a kind of workshop on the idea. Present
some of the best practice ideas for general programming, networking,
database, etc etc. Just briefly. Then have a general discussion with
the room. Elaborations or variations on the ideas presented, other
areas that ought to be covered and our thoughts on them.
Aim to put together a document or web site on the subject after the
seminar.
I'm hoping to do the same two seminars from last year (OOP) but I'm
going to totally rewrite them. I don't have time to put together a
whole 'nother presentation on this subject, but perhaps no-one uses
every area of REALbasic you'd want to cover in enough depth to do the
whole thing themselves anyway. So three or four folks contributing a
little, and then making most of it a free-form discussion on the
topic would work well, I think.
