Anyhow I submitted the bug report because in a much more complicated application I was getting complitely messed up selection and though it was because of the hierarchical. I'll try to dig more deeply to see if I can reproduce that other behaviour which looks really bad.

Not a bug. This is the correct behaviour of hierarchical listboxes on Windows.

I added an example to the report on how you can highlight all columns of a
selected row.
