One does have to wonder. > If so the heart of the RB community is gone... how can we as group > make our voices really heard if we are isolated by such practices... I'm not sure our voices were generally heard via the mailing list anyway; as you know, it was never anybody's job to monitor the list (and I was one of the few who did so daily). The proper channel for feedback has always been the feedback system, or personal communication at places like REAL World. That hasn't changed. > Maybe it's inevitable that we matter less as RS grows and it wants > more control ... but I really don't think they understand what they > are losing or how they are altering the relationship with their most > loyal users. I agree -- if they understood how much damage this would do, I can't imagine they would have done it. This indicates a simple lack of understanding, not any particular malice. > This list has a big factor with my sticking with RB despite all the > bugs and bumps of the last few years... Karen, please give the new list a try (and have patience as we collectively pull together to make it the resource we want). I really think this can turn out to be a blessing in disguise, but we need especially the experienced pillars of the community such as yourself to stick together and make lemonade out of the lemons we've been given.
