This simple snippet works for me:
dim db as new mySQLDatabase
db.port = 3306
db.host = "127.0.0.1"
if db.connect() then
msgbox "Connected"
end if
I can also access the db via Terminal with
mysql -uroot -p******* -h127.0.0.1 --port=3306
So I am not sure why you would be having trouble.
Where does the ssh come into it if you are accessing the db directly
from RB, and on the same machine the database is hosted on?
Also, in the sample from your linux terminal;
mysql -u -root -h 127.0.0.1 -P 3360 -p
-root is incorrect. Is this just a typo?
and the default port is 3306, not 3360
