I would like to have a control autocomplete in the manner of the IDE. That is, as the user types into something that looks like a one-line editfied, a list of matches would be displayed below the typed field. The user can either select what he/she has typed or from the list.
Can a combobox be made to work in this manner? The first roadblock I hit is that I can't make the combobox programatically display the popupmenu list. What seems like a more successful approach is to link an editfield and a listbox. It is not difficult to get the listbox to populate with a list of matches from the text of the editfield and resize itself to fit the list. I'm trying to figure out how the user will indicate his/her choice either from the text in the editfield or from a row in the listbox. I would appreciate any suggestions or partial solutions.
