I could be mixing up my odd bugs, but I remember there were problems like this with some version -- I think it was 5.5.5 -- in Tiger. What I remember is that it has to do with Spotlight indexing the project's folder. If you add the folder to your Spotlight privacy list (in Spotlight preferences), it solves the problem.
