Wow, all these neat ways of doing the same thing. What I do is:

1. Select the App
2. Type CMD-I to "Get Info" on it.
3. Hit TAB key to select the ICON
4. Hold CMD key while you type CVX (that's Copy, Paste, Cut)

Voilá the icon is "fixed" ('course it changes your clipboard...)
