sometimes when I am editing a method which I know has several syntax errors
it is very annoying for the IDE to automatically switch top displaying the
errors tab each time I do an error check on the current class tab (
shift-CMD-K )

I'm totally confused: you are asking it to check for errors, but you
don't want to know about the errors?
