I don't think it's a 'bug'. It's just how the toolbars are implemented in RB, i.e. just expecting text. It's likely you could get rid of the space with a declare though, but don't ask me which one. If you download Thom McGrath's HIToolbar you might figure it out. That doesn't help you for Windows though.
