I think I'm going to need the unabridged story because your outline below doesn't make any sense to me. I know Aaron's blog, I've read Aaron's blog and what you've said is no Aaron's blog post!! (my best Lloyd Bentsen paraphrase)
Here is what Aaron has said about the issue: "In terms of what you can do about it right now (in r2) -- there really isn't too much. The problem is that every time the IDE launches, it automatically adds the registry information. About the only thing you can do is manually correct the associations that REALbasic makes (being careful not to delete or change names), and then set their permissions to being read-only. Quite convoluted." So clearly there is a (in Aaron's words) "convoluted" fix available. However, I wouldn't send someone into that situation unless r2 had some fantabulous feature like ummmm something to do with namespaces (just a hypothetical feature I could get on board with). So for now I'd say sit tight with r2 (if you're on Windows) and wait for r3. With any luck RS will focus like a laserbeam on a smaller feature set and bug fix's and get it out sooner than the 90 <crosses fingers>.
