Some may disagree with me here, but I think Matt Neuburg's REALbasic: The Definitive Guide <http://www.amazon.com/REALbasic-Definitive- Guide-Matt-Neuburg/dp/0596001770/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/102-4535428-9864108? ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177457118&sr=8-3> was what I started with. Although I knew Perl when I first started, this was an excellent start for me. This book is good for starting out, but does not get into many advanced topics, and is very dated. But consider it.
