I tracked down a problem to an editfield which had chr(13) as last character instead of 0 when empty. It even had chr(13) as last character when filled with text!!!
So I made another editfield which works as expected. I can't see a difference between the two editfields - anyone got an idea what's going on here? This is the second time that I get such a strange behaviour, and these corruption "bugs" are very hard to track down.
